D4 6400iso 70-200mmf4 88 Generations Leader: Min Ko Naing

I have been blessed with the opportunity to meet some of the most extraordinary people on the planet. One of them is the 88 Generations leader Min Ko Naing. He and Ko Ko Gyi are as responsible for the democratic reforms in Burma (Myanmar)  as is Aung San Suu Kyi. What I have experienced in photographing Min Ko Naing is that he does not seek political power, but what what is "right" for his fellow countrymen. He said to me that he wants to stay an artist (he paints) because artists always tell the truth. This man, like Ko Ko Gyi spent 21 years in prison for his convictions. Most of that time in solitary confinement. When asked about how feels, just like Aung San Suu Kyi and Ko Ko Gyi,  he says he forgives his captors and wants to move forward and make his country a better place. I find myself thinking about their ability to do that. I have been wronged in my life, as we all have, but I doubt none of us to the level as they have. The fact that they can forgive such heinous acts... Something to aspire to.

Photographing him is literally like trying to shoot a moving target. He is so passionate about everything that he never stops moving. He is so focused on the goal of doing right by his fellow countrymen that there is no time to sit him down and photograph him. This is the second time I have shot him. What I learned was put the camera at the highest iso it can deliver with no noise, use a D4 and put the camera in frame waster mode and pray to the photography gods for a good day.

thThis image was captured  by a Nikon D-4 at 6400iso with a 70-200 mm f4 Nano coated VR II lens using the Nikon electronic file format (.Nef) Shot on Lexar 128 gigabyte Smart Media. fThe ile was post processed using capture NX 2.0 software, Photoshop CS6 and Nik Color Efex 4.0
